Business Model

In the early 90’s, the parent company of Bruin Waste, Laurel Mountain Partners grew by conducting corporate consolidation in waste industry. Two of the most recent acquisitions of Bruin Waste (a company focused on growth by organic and inorganic means) are Double J and Greenday Solutions. These acquisitions enabled Bruin Waste to improve their product suite, and improve their network, to enable a stronger foothold in the targeted geographical locations.

Bruin Waste has also focused on vertical integration with the acquisition of Broad Canyon Landfill, which enables Bruin to have a company which ensures efficient disposal at landfills. Broad Canyon works in line with the Environment Protection Act (EPA) so that once a landfill space is filled out, it is taken care of, and a new area of the landfill is targeted for the next waste parcel.

Recent Victories

Prodisposal is a commercial and residential waste disposal company as well. Pete’s family had a major stake in Prodisposal and managed to get an excellent exit, as it was recently acquired by Coastal Waste and Recycling Inc., a privately owned, locally operated solid waste disposal and recycling company.  Bruin Waste has also acquired a portable toilet service. The customer base for portable toilets goes in sync with those of the construction and demolition industry, so the acquisition fit in with the company’s long-term vision.

Bruin Waste has also increased the volume of sales in the construction and demolition sector with the help of a capital-intensive marketing and sales initiative.

Impact of COVID/ other tricky macroeconomic events

The waste industry is stable. In fact, Bruin Waste was bought at time of covid. There was not much of an impact on the residential waste sector during Covid. Even though the commercial sector was affected slightly, the company managed to pull through covid relatively unscathed.
